Cancer Risk Assessment and Geochemical Features of Granitoids at Nikeiba, Southeastern Desert, Egypt

چکیده
Different rock types (syenogranite, alkali feldspar granite and quartz syenite intruded by microgranite dikes veins) were investigated in the Nikeiba region Egypt. The main components of studied intrusive rocks, comprised granites syenite, are plagioclase, amphibole, biotite, K-feldspar different proportions. Ground gamma ray measurements show that syenogranite, have highest radioactivity (K, eU, eTh their ratios) comparison with granite. Geochemically, enriched large-ion lithophile elements (LILE; Ba, Rb, Sr) high field-strength (HFSE; Y, Zr Nb), but decreased Ce, reflecting alkaline affinity. These rocks reveal calc–alkaline affinity, metaluminous characteristics, A-type post-collision geochemical signatures, which indicates emplacement within-plate environments under an extensional regime. U Th increased syenogranite whereas shows a marked decrease Th. average values AU (131 ± 49 Bq·kg−1), ATh (164 35) AK (1402 239) samples higher than recommended worldwide average. levels found result alteration radioactive carrying minerals inside faults. public’s risk from radionuclides granitoid is estimated calculating radiological risks. excess lifetime cancer (ELCR) exceed permissible limit. Therefore, granitoids unsuitable for use as infrastructure materials.

Five calc-alkaline plutons; Um Tagher, Abu Zawil, Um Gidri, Um Anab and El Ghuzah, in the northern Eastern Desert of Egypt were subjected to petrographic and mineralogical investigations. They are composed of varying proportions of quartz + plagioclase +potash feldspar+ biotite + hornblende± epidote ± calcite + titanite +magnetite + apatite and zircon. -The Fawakhir ophiolitic sequence is composed mainly of serpentinites, metagabbros, boninitic metagabbros and metavolcanics. The serpentinites have geochemical features similar to those of depleted-mantle peridotites. Major and trace element characteristics show that the ophiolitic metagabbro and metavolcanic rocks are of tholeiitic to calc-alkaline affinity. REE abundances in the metagabbros a...

متن کاملCytogenetic monitoring of human populations at risk in Egypt: role of cytogenetic data in cancer risk assessment.
Somatic mutation plays a critical role in carcinogenesis. Numerous environmental agents can increase the probability that somatic mutation will occur. The use of genotoxicity testing is essential for assessing potential human toxicity so that hazards can be prevented. Cytogenetic monitoring of human populations exposed to chemicals has proved to be a useful tool for detecting the chemical mutag...
